Ablewood is a proud member of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), undergoing annual inspections to ensure we consistently meet the standards the FMB sets out.

We also work closely with local architects and structural engineers and maintain a strong working relationship with Building Control Services.

For new builds and extensions in particular, this collaborative approach is valuable. We're on hand to guide you and give you advice at every stage of your project, whether that's recommending a trusted local architect at first contact or drawing on our in depth knowledge of materials and building techniques as the work progresses.

All our crafts people are qualified for the work we undertake, some being time served tradespeople, others holding C&G or NVQ qualifications. Reaching this level of skill takes years of hard work, commitment and investment, many of our team continue to attend regular training and inspections to ensure they're working to the latest standards and regulations.

Having invested in our own estimating software, we produce consistently accurate, in depth quotations for every project we take on. Using EstimatorXpress, we're linked to our chosen merchants and to thousands of live building material prices via the Price Tracker™ service. This allows us to produce quotations tied to Gantt charts and management reports, helping keep your project on time and just as importantly, on budget, with a clear stage payment schedule and any provisional sums clearly identified so you can manage your budget as the work progresses.

All building work legally requires a contract to be in place before it begins. Under the HSE's Construction Design Management regulations (CDM 2015) and Consumer Rights legislation, this is now a legal requirement for every building company. We use Contract Xpert software to stay up to date with all relevant consumer and commercial law, and it's linked directly to our estimating software to produce a contract tailored specifically to your project. Where you choose us as main contractor, taking full responsibility for the site, it's within this document that responsibility is formally passed under CDM 2015.

Having the right insurance cover in place is a fundamental part of running any building business. Ablewood Ltd holds an All Risk Insurance Policy, combining Public Liability, Contract Works and Employers' Liability cover, along with protection for plant and tools.

Contract Works Insurance is often overlooked, yet it's an important policy that covers uninsured building work until the point that risk transfers to the homeowner. As a registered FMB Master Builder, we're also able to offer Build Assure cover for new builds, providing ten years of structural defect protection.

To keep pace with new legislation and legal requirements, we've invested in our own Health & Safety Xpert software, allowing us to produce job specific CDM documentation, along with all required method statements, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.

The introduction of CDM 2015 brought significant change to the residential sector, making it a legal requirement for every building project to have an appointed main contractor. The HSE also requires any project lasting more than 30 days to be registered with them via an F10 form, with everyone involved, whether builder, architect, engineer or client, holding defined roles under CDM 2015 regulations.
